Today we celebrate International Women’s Day and draw focus on an ongoing struggle in business and society—the need to challenge expectations and perceptions around gender bias. In particular, the need to press for more female participation at senior executive level and more support for budding female entrepreneurs.

The UK Government’s 2019 Rose Review of Female Entrepreneurship estimated that up to £250 billion could be added to the UK economy if women were able to start and scale new businesses at the same rate as their male counterparts. Faced with a massive task of rebuilding our economies after the Covid pandemic, this must be a priority not only in the UK but around the world.

Dr Stephanie Hussels, Program Director, and Carol Foussat, Program Lead, of the Business Growth Program at Cranfield School of Management, have produced a valuable, practical guide for women in business that showcases the careers of six entrepreneurial past participants in the program—all founders and leaders of successful businesses.
