With the internet economy estimated to grow at 10 per cent a year in the UK, there is increasing interest in starting digital businesses. Understanding this, Saïd Business School will be holding a free seminar on 27 January 2011, titled “Start Your Own Digital Business: the Time is Now.”
The speaker, David Soskin, is the co-Founder of Howzat Media LLP and former CEO of Cheapflights. He will show that there has never been a better time to start a digital business. His talk will demonstrate some practical do’s and don’ts, based on his eight-year experience as the CEO of Cheapflights Media, one of the UK’s most successful and enduring dot coms. Under David’s leadership, Cheapflights grew by 50% a year into an international leader in travel search.
Currently, he is the Co-Founder of Howzat Media LLP, which invests in early stage digital media companies on both sides of the Atlantic. Howzat’s investments include WAYN.com, Academia.edu, CheapToday.com and Trivago.com.
He will also be signing copies of his book “Net Profit: How to Succeed in Digital Business,” published in September 2010.
This seminar forms part of a number of similar events taking place at Saïd this year. Other forthcoming speakers include Richard Perry (Founder of Perry Capital) this month, and John Connolly (Senior Partner & CEO of Deloitte UK and Global Chairman of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd) in March 2011.
