Warwick Business School is a leading thought-developer and innovator, in the top one per cent of global business schools. WBS is the largest academic department of the University of Warwick. Our students come from 153 countries to learn at undergraduate, masters, MBA and PhD level. We nurture top business talent from Britain and abroad through executive education, and develop new knowledge to benefit business and society through our world-leading research. Because we do research, we bring new knowledge to the classroom in a way that teaching colleges and commercial training companies cannot. Because we are part of a wider university, we can call upon expertise from a huge range of disciplines, and offer excellent campus facilities. Many of our 27,800 graduates return for further study at WBS later in their career. This confirms our effective blend of academic research with the practicalities of the workplace. Learning by sharing experience and insight is key to our student experience. “The December 2008 Research Assessment Exercise rated 75% of our research at 3* and above, placing us in the UK's top 3.” We look at things differently We're not scared of ambition Our Dean, Mark Taylor, has set out a clear ambition for WBS to become the leading university-based business school in Europe. With over 8,500 students and participants from 153 countries across the world, people already trust WBS. This is why: Responding to change • We look differently at business and management education. WBS is the first business school in Europe to set up a group for the study of Behavioural Science and its applications in business, the economy and finance. • We recognise that all levels of management need better skills to deal with the pace of change in the modern world. We feed our research into education at all levels, from undergraduate through to postgraduate, post-experience and executive education. • We recognise the new challenges faced by the energy industry in particular and the impact they can have on other sectors. We offer the only Global Energy MBA from a world-ranked school. Vision & mission Our vision is straightforward. What underlies everything is academic excellence: Our vision To be the leading university based business school in Europe. Our mission • The creation and dissemination of world class research. • The creation of world-class business leaders. • The provision of a return on investment for our students and alumni.
World-class research We are unashamedly research and knowledge-led. We have a reputation for research excellence across a broad subject base with a large number of highly cited scholars. We believe that excellent research will enrich our teaching, improve our understanding of the world around us and provide outputs that influence the way businesses are managed and led today. Subject areas Through their consultancy and research, the 208 academic staff at WBS are closely in touch with business, industry, and government. Their research and teaching is always current and topical, and ensures our students and participants get the global perspective. The teaching staff is organised into subject groups, covering the broad disciplines of business and management and providing hubs for research activity. Each group is made up of academic faculty members and doctoral students, creating a stimulating environment for collaboration, with regular meetings and seminars to discuss the latest knowledge. You can get an idea of the breadth of research at WBS just by looking at the titles of projects being undertaken by students on our Doctoral Programme right now. Our subject groups are: • Accounting (ACC) • Behavioural Science (BS) • Enterprise Teaching (ENT) • Finance (FIN) • Governance & Public Management (GPM) • Industrial Relations & Organisational Behaviour (IROB) • Information Systems & Management (ISM) • Marketing & Strategic Management (MSM) • Operations Management (OM) • Operational Research & Management Sciences (ORMS).
